Local by design

ClearMile does not create an account, run advertising, or include analytics. Mileage records and odometer photos are stored locally in the app. ClearMile does not operate a server that receives these records or photos. Optional Apple location services, device backups, and exports are described below.

Information on your iPhone

ClearMile stores the business purpose, optional vehicle name, odometer readings and photos, timestamps, and optional start and end locations needed to create your mileage record. The app also saves a default vehicle preference and creates temporary photo and export files. Apple Vision processes odometer text on the device. On-device odometer readings are suggestions. Verify and correct every reading before saving.

Permissions

Camera access is used only when you take an odometer photo. Foreground location access is optional and is used only while saving the start or end of a trip. ClearMile does not track location in the background. If you deny location access, you can still create a mileage record without an address. When location is enabled, ClearMile uses Apple location and geocoding services to obtain a position and convert coordinates into an address. These system services may communicate with Apple; their operation is governed by Apple’s Location Services privacy information.

Exports

When you tap Export CSV, ClearMile creates a file containing mileage record fields, not photos, and opens the iOS share sheet. You decide which person or app receives it. Information you share is then handled under the recipient's privacy terms. Export CSV regularly and keep your copies.

Retention and deletion

ClearMile has no account to delete. Use Delete drive in Drives, or discard an active trip on the home screen. Settings → Privacy & data → Delete all local data removes trips, photos, temporary captures, cached exports and your saved vehicle. Deletion cannot be undone. If cleanup fails, retry to complete it; interrupted deletion resumes when the app reopens. Temporary photos are removed after their capture session no longer needs them, and temporary exports after the share sheet closes. Leftover temporary files are cleaned when the app reopens.

Backups and shared copies

Local deletion does not remove copies you shared, support emails, or existing iCloud or computer backups. Manage those copies separately. Restoring an old backup can restore old records. ClearMile provides no backup or recovery service. In iPhone Settings, Delete App removes the app and its local data; Offload App keeps documents and data. You can revoke camera or location permission in iPhone Settings.

Support correspondence

If you email support, we receive your email address and the information you choose to send so we can respond. Please do not send odometer photos, precise locations, or mileage records unless needed to resolve your issue. You can ask us to delete support correspondence by contacting the same support address.

Changes and questions

This policy will be updated when ClearMile's data practices change. Privacy questions can be sent through the ClearMile support page.
